Mumbai has retained the same 15-player squad for its Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match against Haryana, to be played from Monday at the Sharad Pawar academy ground. The selection committee, chaired by Rajesh Pawar, met on Thursday and decided to stick with the set of players who travelled to Bilaspur after Mumbai earned its second consecutive bonus-point win at the start of the campaign. Mumbai thrashed Himachal Pradesh by an innings and 97 runs in that match. The Ranji Trophy is India’s premier domestic first-class cricket competition, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The only talking point for the selectors was Shardul Thakur’s fitness status. The 35-year-old all-rounder is recovering after fracturing his right middle finger during a pre-season warm-up match. A fitness update on Shardul is expected in the next couple of days. Even if he is cleared medically, it is understood that the pacer will be eased into the squad after gradually increasing his workload. The squad is Siddhesh Lad (captain), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Divyaansh Saxena, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Suryansh Shedge, Suved Parkar, Aakash Anand (wicketkeeper), Hardik Tamore (wicketkeeper), Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Atharva Ankolekar, Tushar Deshpande, Mohit Avasthi, Sylvester D’Souza, and Onkar Tarmale.
