US authorities have detained Harry Boxer, an alleged close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in California, according to ANI as reported by Lokmat Times. The detention followed intelligence inputs shared by the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Haryana Special Task Force.

Boxer, whose real name is Harichand Jat, is originally from Bamsur in Rajasthan's Kotputli-Behror district. He is described as Haryana's most-wanted gangster and a key operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Background and criminal record

Boxer's moniker stems from boxing training in Jaipur, where he initially pursued competitive exams and worked as a coach before allegedly entering the criminal underworld. Numerous serious cases, including murder, attempted murder, assault, and extortion, are registered against him in Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana.

He allegedly played a major role in running the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's extortion network from overseas, a criminal enterprise that has terrorized businessmen and celebrities across India.

Earlier, Boxer was linked to the Randeep Malik gang and was implicated in supplying weapons for a firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff, according to Delhi Police.

Bollywood threats and firing incident

Several rounds were fired outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Juhu residence in Mumbai in February 2026. Boxer claimed responsibility for the firing outside Shetty's residence and subsequently threatened others via social media posts and audio messages.

His name emerged in connection with threats issued to Bollywood personalities including Rohit Shetty, Ranveer Singh, and Tusshar Kapoor. He was also linked to the firing incident at comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe in Canada.

Praveen Tripathi, DCP of the Delhi Police Special Cell, highlighted Boxer's role in operating through encrypted channels, receiving instructions for various criminal activities including extortion calls and firing incidents.

A businessman who received an international call demanding a Rs 15 crore ransom was among those who faced his threats.

Extradition process

Indian agencies, with the Central Bureau of Investigation likely spearheading the effort, are initiating legal processes to extradite Boxer back to India. The legal extradition process is expected to be coordinated through the CBI. His arrest comes days after two other gangsters, Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria, were arrested in the US. The detention marks a crucial breakthrough against organized crime networks operating internationally.
