Jammu & Kashmir won the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy, their first title in the tournament's history, defeating Karnataka in the final of the 91st season.

The Ranji Trophy is an annual domestic first-class cricket championship played in India, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, with teams representing the various member associations of the BCCI taking part.

In the 2025-26 season, 38 teams contested the competition, including at least one team from each of the 28 states and four of the eight union territories, with matches held across various cricket grounds and stadiums in India.

Mumbai lead the Ranji Trophy winners list with 42 titles, including 15 consecutive wins from the 1958-59 to 1972-73 seasons. Karnataka follow with eight championships, while Delhi and Baroda have seven and five respectively.

Vidarbha are the most successful of the newer names with three titles, all of them since 2017-18. Vidarbha were the defending champions entering the 2018-19 season, the 85th edition of the tournament, which took place between November 2018 and February 2019.

Vidarbha defeated Saurashtra by 78 runs in the final starting on 3 February 2019 to become the sixth team in the tournament's history to retain their title.

Mumbai are the defending champions from the 2023-24 edition, which they won under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane by defeating Vidarbha at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Vidarbha won the 2024-25 season, the 90th edition, defeating Kerala in the final under captain Akshay Wadkar.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy is administered by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and is contested by state and city teams in a league and playoff format.

Along with the inter-zonal Deodhar Trophy, it forms the top level of List A cricket in the country and is an important feeder tournament for selection in the Indian National Cricket Team. Matches consist of 50 overs per side, similar to One Day International matches.

It was initially a zonal tournament and became a national tournament in 2002. Vidarbha are the defending champions of the Vijay Hazare Trophy after winning the 2025-26 edition. Sources do not state the date, venue or format for the next Ranji Trophy season.
