PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen reached the Hylo Open 2026 finals with straight-game victories in their respective women's and men's singles semifinals at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken, Germany, on Saturday.

Sindhu advances to second straight final

India Today reported that Sindhu defeated compatriot Anmol Kharb 21-13, 21-16 in an all-Indian women's singles semifinal. IANS said the 38-minute contest was the first international meeting between the two Indians, with Sindhu maintaining her unbeaten run at the tournament without dropping a game.

The victory marked Sindhu's second consecutive final appearance, having finished runner-up at the French Open last week. Sindhu will face Denmark's Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt in the final.

Lakshya reaches title round

Lakshya Sen booked his place in the men's singles final with a composed 21-17, 21-13 win over France's sixth seed Toma Junior Popov in 41 minutes. IANS reported that the victory gave Sen a 3-2 lead in the head-to-head record.

This marks Lakshya's second final appearance of the season, following his runner-up finish at the All England Open earlier this year. He will now face Denmark's Mathias Sogaard in the final.

Context and what happens next

IANS added that the last time both Sindhu and Lakshya reached the finals of the same tournament was at the Syed Modi India International in 2024. Sindhu is a two-time Olympic medallist and the first and only Indian to become the badminton world champion.

She rose to a career-high world ranking of No. 2 in April 2017.

The Hylo Open, formerly known as the BMW Badminton Cup, BMW Open International, Bitburger Masters, Bitburger Open and SaarLorLux Open, is an international badminton tournament held at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken, Germany, since 1988.

Sindhu will face Denmark's Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt in the women's singles final, while Lakshya will face Denmark's Mathias Sogaard in the men's singles final on Sunday.
