Other championships awarded
The IWF awarded two senior world championships at the meeting. The Russian capital of Moscow was announced as the host city of the 2030 edition of the senior world championships. The IWF executive board also decided to award the 2028 World Youth Championships to Prishtina in Kosovo and the IWF World Junior Championships to Caracas in Venezuela.
IWF statement
IWF General Secretary José Quiñones said at the end of the executive board vote that all the bids received were excellent and that the federation was sure the championships in the respective countries would be a huge success. Quiñones said it was worth noting that three of the four countries awarded events — Kosovo, Venezuela and India — would be organising an IWF world event for the first time. He said this demonstrates the sport is growing worldwide and the staging of IWF competitions is highly desirable for many nations around the planet.
Calendar consolidation
The IWF said it undertook the important step of awarding four world championships together to consolidate its international calendar in the years to come.
