The International Cricket Council released the schedule for the 2027 Men's Cricket World Cup on 1 October 2026, with a repeat of the 2023 final to start the group stage and a new format after it.

India's group fixtures

  • 7 October 2027: India v Australia, Cape Town

  • 10 October: India v Pakistan, Johannesburg

  • 14 October: India v Afghanistan, Tshwane

  • 17 October: India v Qualifier A, Bloemfontein

  • 24 October: Zimbabwe v India, Victoria Falls, the first World Cup match at the new ground

How the tournament works

Fourteen teams take part. Co-hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe qualified directly, along with the top eight teams in the ODI rankings at the 30 September 2026 cut-off. The other four come through the World Cup Qualifier: the winner goes straight to the group stage, and the next three play a three-team Super Series in Windhoek, Namibia, on 2, 4 and 6 October 2027 for the last place.

The 12 group-stage teams are split into two groups of six. The top three in each group, plus the better fourth-placed team, reach a new Super 7 phase, starting with no points carried over, in which each team plays six more matches between 25 October and 14 November. To help fans plan, some teams have been pre-seeded into Super 7 slots.

The top four go to the semi-finals on 17 November in Cape Town and 18 November in Tshwane, both with reserve days. The final is in Johannesburg on 21 November, with 22 November as a reserve day.

Other dates

South Africa open against New Zealand in Cape Town on 9 October, and Zimbabwe meet Afghanistan in Bulawayo. The last match in Namibia is England against Sri Lanka on 13 October.
