India's medal haul in athletics continued at the Asian Para Games 2026 on Thursday in Nagoya. The women's 400m T47 final delivered a one-two finish for the country, with Anjanaben Bumbadiya taking gold ahead of compatriot Jayanti Behera. The T47 category covers athletes with a below-elbow amputation, wrist amputation, or similar upper-limb deficiency affecting one arm. For Behera, the silver added to her Asian Para Games record after she won silver in the 400m and bronze in the 200m at the 2018 edition. Bumbadiya had finished fourth in her heat of the women's 400m T47 at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships. The visually impaired athlete had earlier claimed bronze in the women's 200m T12 competition. India will look to build on these performances in the remaining athletics sessions at the Games.
