Pranavi fights illness to stay in contention
The 23-year-old carded a second-round 70 to finish tied second at two-under par, two shots behind Switzerland's Chiara Tamburlini, the 2024 LET Order of Merit winner who plays on the LPGA. Tamburlini shot 71 on Friday. Pranavi began her round with a bogey on the 10th hole but did not drop another shot, recording birdies on the 11th, 14th and 17th holes. She has been dealing with a stomach bug this week. “My stomach hasn’t been the best this week; I’m trying to keep it together,” Pranavi said after her round.
Teenager makes history at the cut
Only 11 players were under par for the tournament, and the cut fell at nine-over par. Two Indians shared the day's best score of 69. Vani Kapoor, who eagled the par-4 14th, moved into a tie for seventh at two-under. The other player to shoot 69 was Ojaswini Saraswat, a 13-year-old amateur from Jaipur who is in the eighth grade. She entered the field as one of the leading Indian players on the world amateur rankings. After opening with 79 on Thursday, she produced a second round featuring seven birdies and four bogeys to reach four-over par for the tournament and secure a weekend place.
I wanted to make some birdies because it was important
Ojaswini became the youngest Indian ever to make the cut at an LET event and the second youngest overall. Aditi Ashok previously held the Indian record, making the cut at 14 during the 2012 Women's Indian Open. The overall record belongs to Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn, who was 12 when she made the cut at the 2008 Finnair Masters. Ojaswini was runner-up at the US Kids World Championship in 2024 and won silver at the US Kids European Championship the same year.
