## Article

Pramanik’s maiden 10-for powered Bengal to a Ranji Trophy win, while Tanush Kotian’s career-best 8/81 sealed Mumbai’s thumping win over Haryana.

Bengal consolidated their position at the top of the group table with 18 points, six clear of Maharashtra, who logged three points on the basis of their first innings lead over Gujarat in Pune.

The Ranji Trophy is an annual domestic first-class cricket championship played in India and organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, with teams representing the various member associations of the BCCI taking part in the tournament.

In the 2025–26 season, the competition was contested by 38 teams, including at least one team from each of the 28 states and four of the eight union territories.

Vidarbha were the defending champions entering that season, and Jammu and Kashmir defeated Karnataka in the final to win their maiden Ranji title. Bengal’s position at the top of the group table puts it in a strong spot as the competition moves towards its business end.

## Mumbai’s win over Haryana

Kotian claimed eight for 81 to finish with a match haul of 11 wickets as Haryana was bowled out for 256 at the stroke of tea at the Sharad Pawar Academy ground on Thursday.

When Kotian opened the bowling from the pavilion end in the morning, Mumbai needed eight wickets to bowl out Haryana, while the away team had to bat out of its skin to salvage a draw.

The off-spinner wasted little time in making an impact, inducing an edge from Yashvardhan Dalal that Sarfaraz Khan pouched safely. Himanshu Rana, who had retired hurt after being struck on the helmet the previous evening, returned to join Nishant Sindhu.

But Kotian struck again close to lunch, getting one to turn sharply into Rana, whose edge was safely held by Divyaansh Saxena at leg-slip. Sindhu too fell before the break, as he inside-edged an audacious sweep that wicketkeeper Akash Anand caught cleanly.

Kotian continued to vary his angles cleverly, but Samant Jakhar and Anuj Thakral resisted for nearly two hours. The breakthrough finally came when Kotian, bowling over the wicket, breached Thakral’s defences.

The resistance unravelled thereafter, allowing Kotian to register his career-best figures both in an innings and a match.

Mumbai openers Divyaansh Saxena (30 not out, 25 balls, 2x4, 2x6) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (67 not out, 39 balls, 7x4, 3x6) made light work of the 97-run target, overhauling it in less than 11 overs. They cleared the boundary with ease against the spinners.

Raghuvanshi even employed the reverse sweep effectively against left-arm spinner Nishant before sealing the win with a swat over midwicket for six off off-spinner Kanishk Chouhan.

The victory was Mumbai’s third consecutive Ranji Trophy win with a bonus point as the host continued its march towards regaining the title.
