Lando Norris won the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix in mixed weather conditions, handing McLaren its third victory of the 2026 campaign, as Mercedes sealed the world constructors' championship.

Autosport reported that Norris defeated a resurgent Max Verstappen in a race that both started and finished in the wet, bookending a dry spell. Polesitter Norris reclaimed the lead from Kimi Antonelli early on when Antonelli spun off.

Antonelli had survived a scare on the laps to the grid when he slid onto the grass at Turn 12 before picking off Norris for the lead into Turn 1 as the race started in intermediate conditions. Third-place starter Liam Lawson followed Antonelli through into second.

Alonso dropped six places by going wide at Turn 3, while Lewis Hamilton gained 10 places to sweep into 11th and Verstappen jumped to 13th after both drivers started at the back of the grid with engine penalties.

Antonelli built a five-second buffer to Lawson and Norris as Hamilton and Verstappen found each other, with Hamilton struggling on worn rear tyres.

The seven-time world champion could not follow Verstappen past Oscar Piastri into the top 10, with the Ferrari instead passed by Aston Martin's Alonso.

Hamilton urged his team to bring him in for slicks and eventually got his wish on lap 15 of 71, becoming the first driver to make the switch.

His immediate speed on the dry weather tyre triggered a flurry of pitstops across the grid as the entire field switched to softs, with Antonelli and Verstappen waiting one lap longer than the other frontrunners.

After that shuffle, Antonelli kept the lead from Norris, Isack Hadjar and Verstappen, who both made their way past Lawson. George Russell lost out by spinning in the pit exit, escaping damage but dropping behind Piastri and Audi's Nico Hulkenberg.

Antonelli came under increasing pressure from Norris, reporting a suspension problem that made his car pull to one side. He spun off the track in Turn 1, releasing Norris into the lead but being able to rejoin.

Antonelli's handling woes continued as Hadjar and Verstappen worked their way past into the podium positions, with Hadjar waving Verstappen by on lap 38.

After dropping five seconds behind Hadjar, Antonelli stabilised in fourth with a healthy buffer to Piastri, Lawson, Russell and Hulkenberg, while neither Ferrari driver was able to challenge.

The Brazilian Grand Prix is a round of the Formula 1 world championship, and Mercedes' constructors' title seals the team's championship success for the season. The Formula 1 season continues with the next round on the calendar.
