## Article

Victor Wembanyama poured in a season-high 43 points to help the host San Antonio Spurs defeat the short-handed Minnesota Timberwolves 121-111 on Saturday for its fourth straight victory.

The Spurs trailed by a point at halftime before taking a five-point lead into the fourth quarter, thanks in part to a 10-0 run.

Dylan Harper added 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Spurs, while De’Aaron Fox scored 22 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists.

Ayo Dosunmu led the Timberwolves with 27 points and nine rebounds, while Jaden McDaniels and Jonathan Kuminga tallied 19 points each. LaMelo Ball was 2-for-10 from the field for 10 points before fouling out.

## Why it matters

The Spurs entered the 2026-27 season as the defending Southwest Division and Western Conference champions. San Antonio competes in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Southwest Division of the Western Conference and plays its home games at Frost Bank Center.

The Spurs are one of four former American Basketball Association teams to remain intact in the NBA after the 1976 ABA-NBA merger, one of two former ABA teams to have won an NBA championship, and the only former ABA team to have won multiple championships.

Minnesota competes in the NBA as a member of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference.

The Timberwolves, already missing star Anthony Edwards with a knee injury and Donte DiVincenzo recovering from Achilles surgery, also played without defensive stopper Rudy Gobert due to low back spasms and lost for the third time in four games.

## What happens next

The Spurs will look to extend their winning run in their next fixture. Minnesota will aim to halt its slide with Anthony Edwards, Donte DiVincenzo and Rudy Gobert unavailable.
