The game kicks off at 8pm on 3 November 2026. ## League phase standings and recent form Aston Villa sit second in the 36-team league phase after three wins from three, according to Sports Mole. Tips.gg said Villa lead the table with a perfect record, while Barcelona occupy ninth spot after back-to-back defeats to Real Madrid and PSG. Sports Mole reported that PSG are the only team to out-perform Villa in the league phase so far. ## Barcelona's defensive record and home streak Barcelona have shipped at least one goal in nine of their last 10 games in all competitions, Sports Mole said. Yet the hosts remain unbeaten in 15 straight UEFA home games against English sides, last losing to Liverpool almost two decades ago. ## Aston Villa's European campaign Club Brugge, Fenerbahce and Viking FK have all fallen to Villa's might thus far, the latter failing to follow up their extraordinary draw with Bayern Munich as Emery masterminded a comfortable 3-1 triumph in the West Midlands on October 21. A 2-1 success over Manchester City just three days after the Viking win enhanced Emery's reputation as one of the globe's finest head coaches at this moment in time, but his side now travel to Camp Nou on a two-game winless run, following up a 3-0 EFL Cup loss at Bournemouth with a disappointing result. ## Barcelona's season so far Barcelona began the season with 11 straight victories in all competitions before losing their 100% record at the home of holders Paris Saint-Germain on matchday three. Four of the six strikes scored on the evening went PSG's way, as a Blaugrana side who began the season with 11 straight victories in all competitions lost their 100% record in crushing fashion. Barca's first defeat of the campaign soon became a mini-wobble, as Jose Mourinho inspired Real Madrid to an unexpected Camp Nou Clasico triumph in La Liga, but Flick's men returned to their merciless ways on Saturday evening. Indeed, the Blaugrana snapped their two-game losing sequence in a 6-1 annihilation of Alaves, thus maintaining a two-point advantage over nearest rivals Atletico Madrid at the top of the La Liga table. ## Attacking output and defensive issues Only once this season have Barcelona failed to score more than two goals in one game - their 1-2 reverse to Real Madrid just last month - although Alaves' consolation on Saturday means that Flick's side are also without a clean sheet in five. 6 goals per game that masks a defense that has started to leak under pressure from elite opposition. ## Key players Lamine Yamal has been directly involved in eight goals across his last five appearances (4 goals, 4 assists), numbers that put him among the most productive attackers in Europe right now. On the other side, Emiliano Buendía has quietly built a strong run through midfield for Villa, contributing a goal and controlling tempo in games where Unai Emery's side have had to defend deep. ## Tactical comparison 6%. That gap in control usually translates into territorial dominance, though Villa compensate with discipline out of possession, picking up 10 yellow cards to Barcelona's 8 and committing a similar number of fouls (61 to 60). Expect Villa to sit compact through midfield early, relying on quick transitions through Buendía and Alysson Edward Franco da Rocha rather than sustained pressure. ## Villa's league phase record As well as being just one of five teams on a perfect nine points, Villa's 12 UCL goals scored is the joint second-best record behind PSG's 14, while +9 goal difference is also the best of its kind alongside the two-time winners. ## What happens next Barcelona return to La Liga after this Champions League fixture, though Sports Mole did not name the opponent or date. Aston Villa also continue their Premier League and cup campaigns after the match. ## Club background Aston Villa, founded in 1874, play at Villa Park in Birmingham and have won the European Cup once, according to Wikipedia. The 2026-27 season is their 152nd in history and their eighth straight Premier League campaign. ## About the competition The UEFA Champions League is Europe's premier club competition. This season uses a 36-team league phase before the knockout rounds. ### Recent results and key figures for both sides | Team | Last three results | Points | Goals scored | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Barcelona | Lost 1-2 to Real Madrid, lost 2-4 to PSG, won 6-1 vs Alaves | Not listed | 18 in last five games | | Aston Villa | Won 3-1 vs Viking FK, won vs Club Brugge, won vs Fenerbahce | 9 from three games | 12 in Champions League | ### Related on Apex Sports News - [2026/27 Champions League league phase teams and fixtures](https://apexsportsnews.in/news/2026-27-champions-league-league-phase-teams-and-fixtures) - [Chelsea win as Bayern and Madrid draw in Women's Champions League](https://apexsportsnews.in/news/chelsea-win-as-bayern-and-madrid-draw-in-women-s-champions-league) - [Cristiano Ronaldo rested for Al-Nassr's AFC Champions League trip to Pakhtakor](https://apexsportsnews.in/news/cristiano-ronaldo-rested-for-al-nassr-s-afc-champions-league-trip-to-pakhtakor) ### Sources - [khelnow.com](https://khelnow.com/football/barcelona-vs-aston-villa-preview-champions-league-202611) - [dazn.com](https://www.dazn.com/en-US/news/soccer/barcelona-vs-aston-villa-preview-prediction-champions-league-2026-27/160fmwavh069n1qj80ym27o6uk) - [tips.gg](https://tips.gg/article/barcelona-vs-aston-villa-03-11-2026/) - [sportsmole.co.uk](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/barcelona/champions-league/preview/barcelona-vs-aston-villa-prediction-team-news-lineups_608180.html) - [Wikipedia: Aston Villa F.C.
